Summer is over. It's been a big summer for the Patterson household. Casey started playing for the FIVB and traveling internationally to play beach volleyball. Which meant that Cash and I had a lot of one-on-one time to bond before the new baby came. We celebrated the birth of our second son, Guy Philip. And the next few months were a blur while Casey was jet-setting around the world and I was doing my best to get accustomed to life with two bambinos. We spent way too much time indoors and way too many hours in front of the TV. We eventually settled into a new routine and then summer came to a close. As soon as Casey was done traveling, he signed a contract with his old team in Puerto Rico to play indoor in the fall. And just like that, we were packing up and getting ready to move our little family to PR for four months. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the summer that haven't made past blog posts.

Motherlode 2011
Casey wanted to repeat his championship at the Motherlode tournament in Aspen, Colorado over Labor Day weekend. And I was tired of being cooped up and left behind on all of his adventures, so we rented a minivan and took a family road trip. To get from Huntington Beach to Aspen requires 17 hours of driving and we weren't about to do that in one day with two kids. We stopped half way and spent the night at my brother-in-law's cabin near Brianhead, Utah. It was fun to see family and take a little break from driving.
The tournament director put us up in a two-bedroom condo and we enjoyed Aspen to the fullest. Cash couldn't get enough of all of the fountains/ponds and dogs. And I couldn't get enough of the yummy food. Plus it was great weather the whole weekend.
Casey and his partner, Sean Rosenthal, ended up winning the tournament after a long weekend of grueling volleyball. I have a feeling this is going to be a tournament that Casey will play in for the rest of his life. Annual family vacation in Aspen over Labor Day? Sounds good to me.

The winners get their name on the post every time they win. Casey will be on there for 2010 and 2011. And hopefully more times if it's up to him. |
Patterson Family Pictures
In August, we drove up to Ventura to take family pictures with Casey's immediate family. It was long overdue because we haven't taken a family picture all together since our wedding in 2005. Also, the Patterson's are moving up to Utah and leaving their beautiful farmhouse in Ventura. We had to take advantage of the beautiful scenery the old house provides before they left.
We. Are. Family.
